Finn Wolfhard Is No Longer Just That Canadian Kid From ‘Stranger Things’

Finn Wolfhard is one of the youngest celebrities in the world — and he’s already a household name. How? It’s all thanks to Strangers Things. It’s a hit show that debuted in 201 and is already on its third season.

To be fair, it’s not wrong to pin the Netflix sci-fi show as his most successful project to date. But the 16-year-old Wolfhard is more than just Mike Wheeler.

He Was Already An Actor Earlier On

Wolfhard indeed got his big break on Stranger Things, but that doesn’t mean that was his first acting role. Do you know how he got his first try? It was through Craigslist.

His official acting debut was in The CW series The 100. He wasn’t in the main cast. He just had a small role and played a kid named Zoran in 2014.

But that wasn’t Wolfhard’s only TV project. He also played as Jordie Pinsky in Supernatural. In particular, he was in the well-received episode called “Thin Lizzie” during the show’s 11th season.

None of these roles compared to his current stint on Stranger Things as the smart, charming kid. Still, it was clear that Wolfhard could do more in the field of entertainment.

He’s Part of The Blockbuster ‘It’ Movies

For some unknown reason, Finn Wolfhard is in two properties that were set in the 1980s. One’s Stranger Things and the other is the 2017 movie adaptation of Stephen King’s It novel.

In the film, Wolfhard served as Richie Tozier, who was Bill Denbrough’s boisterous best friend. Still, we couldn’t blame others for thinking of his Stranger Things character.

But here’s an intriguing fact: Wolfhard already auditioned for the role back in 2015 — and he got it. The problem was that Cary Fukunaga quit as the director. He had to audition again when Andy Muschietti took over.

It proved that horror still sells well as it went on to become the highest-grossing horror movie in history. Likewise, the sequel It Chapter Two has already made more than $300 million around the world.

A Preference for Music and Filmmaking

Did you know that Wolfhard is in a band? He does the lead vocals and plays the rhythm guitar for Calpurnia. This is a Canadian indie band he formed with three others in 2017.

The band allows Wolfhard to display his musical prowess and his preferred style in the form of garage rock and alternative rock.

Calpurnia doesn’t have a huge discography, but it’s worth a listen even for people who don’t know who Finn Wolfhard is in the entertainment industry — and, yes, the band is still active.

A Preference for Music and Filmmaking

But aside from music, Wolfhard also has a knack for movies. He decided to become an actor because it would put him closer to his goal of becoming a filmmaker.

Even with the success of It and Stranger Things, he still wants to try directing. We think he’ll do a fine job at it, especially since he knows how actors work now.

And if music and filmmaking aren’t enough, Finn Wolfhard is doing many things other than Stranger Things: He’ll be in The Goldfinch, The Addams Family, The Turning, and Ghostbusters 2020.
